April Fool's Day

Our cherry tree hasn't begun to blossom yet.

Byran says we'll worry about whether or not it's alive or dead if it hasn't blossomed by July.

It's not like it's a Christmas Cactus that gets the seasons mixed up! My mom had a Christmas Cactus the bloomed faithfully every July. Dumb cactus.

We have been spring cleaning like maniacs, and no matter how much crap we throw out (or efficiently store out of sight and therefore out of mind)...I keep finding more stuff in corners, drawers and in the abyss that are my children's rooms (we just cleaned them out AGAIN a few weeks ago).

The bleakness of the past week with snowfall, freezing rain (for us) has begun to dissapate into what today are clear, blue skies complete with birds chirping and a peaceful calm that only early spring can bring.

Easter came and went rather peacefully, and Dylan enjoyed his very first Easter Egg hunt. Since he's so excited about taking stuff out of things, and putting things back into things (we're not sure what it all means, but we're certain that it means he's a genius of some measure!), an Easter Egg hunt was right up his alley.

Also, instead of opening the eggs and EATING the candy (which I didn't really want him to do anyway), he would open them, the jelly beans would shoot out and then he would very carefully take each candy and put it back into the egg and try to close it up. Eventually, I just removed all the candy from all the eggs in his sparse basket because he was more interested in taking the eggs apart and putting them back together than anything else.

And...our dryer just died. We'll be planning a memorial service with a bulk of the eulogy devoted to it's long, faithful service and the unbelievable amount of energy required for it to function which has been carefully documented by the increases in our power bills.

The Latest and Greatest...

We've sort of dashed into 2008 and here we are, it's March and I've been sort of scratching my head and wondering where the time went? C'est la vie, n'est pas?

We recently took a Saturday to spend some time with our family and friends across the water. It was wonderful to see everyone, especially after such a long while. We were able to get this photograph of Byran, Grandpa Tommy and Dylan together.

We are coming up on our 4th wedding anniversary in a few weeks! It's amazing, but as Byran likes to say...it feels much, much longer.

As for the children...

Anna is doing well in school. She's maintaining A's for the most part, and is nervous about high school next year. We've had many discussions about high school, college and her future lately. She let me know that she has signed up for French and drama as her electives next year. Formidable! I am so proud of my daughter!

Sam started LaCrosse, and has decided to retire all other games in favor of this one. We are excited that he has found something that he likes so well. He is, as usual, doing well in school given that he is a very intelligent young man.

Rachel is planning to try out for the school's talent show, coming up here really soon. She's chosen half of a Hannah Montana song.

Rachel is writing many stories, and has lately taken up song-writing amid the turbulence of secret crushes, school yard death threats and learning to ride a two-wheeler with her surrogate Grandma, Jody. She's a very busy girl!

Dylan, the little monkey munchkin weighing in most recently at 32 pounds, is walking around very well, making his way up and down stairs, sustaining a pretty constant stream of benign head injuries, getting lots and lots of BIG teeth and has almost outgrown size six diapers. His favorite things to say right now are "What?" and "Mooooom!". Oh, and "what's that?".
